Alexandrites are an exotic and rare gemstone with the astonishing ability to change color. These jewels are so rare, that many people have never heard of them. Genuine alexandrites are seldom seen in modern jewelry, and will certainly not be found in mass-market displays. Stones over two carats are almost unheard of, and usually belong in the rarefied domain reserved for discerning gem specialists. This natural, untreated alexandrite changes from grayish green in daylight to purple in incandescent light. Each facet of the brilliant/step cut was carefully planned to create an oval gem with stunning sparkle and no color mixing. It was mined in Madagascar and comes with an original GIA Report. With an unusually large 4.09 carat weight, this alexandrite is very eye clean, with no color zoning, making it an exceptional collectors item.
