Alexandrite is a rare form of chrysoberyl, with the unusual ability to change color under different types of light. Alexandrite appears very dark brown in daylight and changing to very dark purplish brownish under artificial incandescent light. The more dramatic the change in colors, the higher the price these extraordinary stones command. Most alexandrites can only be found in small sizes. Large stones are rarely found, and are quickly purchased by gem connoisseurs and investors. Our color-change alexandrite is exceptional for its large carat weight, and prominent color-change. This natural alexandrite is very eye clean with no color zoning. It has been expertly cut into a cushion shape in a brilliant/step cut. It was mined in Madagascar and has not been treated. This rare gemstone is ready to be crafted into an extravagant, one-of-a-kind jewelry setting, or treasured as an investment.
