Gemstones are often associated with love and something very romantic. There is no surprise that certain gemstones are believed to be able to bring love into life. They have an ability to improve current relationships and encourage loving state of mind. Starting from ancient times, stones were often seen as a talisman for mental and physical health. Furthermore, a lot of prominent and very successful people viewed gemstones as very important for them, admired their beauty and appreciated the spiritual abilities of gemstones.

There are several gemstones that are often connected to feelings of love such as rose quartz, moonstone, kunzite, ruby, garnet, emerald and blue sapphire. Even though no gemstone is able to force someone to fall in love with someone else, the influence of the stones is very delicate and encouraging. They emit energy and vibes of love and help us to develop the right set of mind to open our hearts. It also should be noted that each “love stone” works a little differently. While rose quarts is associated with calming energy giving us the sense of inner peace  putting us in a state of “receiving love” mind, moonstone is viewed as a “passion” stone provoking eroticism feelings. Kunzite is a symbol of marriage and romance, used by those that suffer from a wounded heart. In contrast to most other stones that  promote current feelings, sapphire is known as a gemstone of new love helping in finding new relationships building harmony and right set of mind. Ruby is known as to be able to strengthen the emotional and physical heart, bringing confidence and stamina to the owner. Garnet improves sensuality and combats depression. Emerald is an excellent choice for those that experience communication problems. It is ruled by the planet Mercury and often used in order to “rebuild” relationships, improve communication and trust. Similarly to emerald, sapphire especially a blue one, is used to ease difficult relationships. It is ruled by the planet Saturn and believed to help with feelings of rancor and negativity in relationships.

A number of great and famous personalities loved gemstones and used them in their relationships or just as an inner support appreciating their unique abilities. According to legends, Helen of Troy had a large star sapphire, that was the main key for her desirability. She had at least thirty suitors that were admired by her beauty. The abduction of Helen by Paris was the main reason of the Trojan War. Probably the vibes of the sapphire made her so attractive and desired. Another famous personality, King Solomon used his ring sapphire to attract and seduce the Queen of Sheba. Furthermore, the sapphire was believed to be used as a power in communication with animals and demons. Another famous personality, Catherine the Great of Russia was presented with 337 carat sapphire by an admirer that was a manifestation of true love and desirability of this great woman. No wonder that Catherine was famous for her love to decorate her rooms with various stones bringing the right set of mind to her life. Egypt’s Queen Cleopatra was a big admirer of emeralds, the stone that was very symbolic for Egypt and was viewed by her and an ancient civilization as a stone of fertility, immortality and rebirth. Another prominent personality, Queen Elizabeth II is a lucky owner of a huge sapphire that was given by Prince Albert to Queen Victoria the day before wedding. The sapphire is often used as an elegant brooch. Interestingly, British royal family is famous for their love towards sapphires. Both Princess Anne and Diana received sapphire engagement rings. At the moment, Diana’s ring is used for Kate Middleton and Prince William engagement.

All in all, gemstones are often used to encourage loving state of mind and as a manifestation of warm and pleasant feelings. A number of famous personalities throughout different periods of times used gemstones during their lives making them more prominent and desirable.
